This dissertation presents the layout methods for ski course using a GIS(Geographic Information System) package. Elevation, Slope, aspect, valley and ridge are used as the input data, Raw data map, trail map, and course map are produced as the output data. After the contours of DXF form are read, elecation layer is generated. The slope and aspect layers are genetated from elevation data using TM(Triangulated Irregular Network) technique. After elevation layer is transformed in the raster structure, valleys and ridges are produced. In order to classify the ski courses, the slopes are divided into beginner, Intermediate, and advanced levels respectively. And the aspects are divided Into four levels : NE, N and E, S and SW, and other zones For economic efficiency, the ski course positioned at N-NE-EI are selected. And the courses in the selected area are classified into three levels according to the skier's standards. The optimized ski course, which are located at valleys and ridges, are selected for the ease off development. The framework is applied to the second KANG-CHON RESORT expansion area of CHUNCHUN where it is the staging place for the 2001 winter season.
