This thesis which title is A Design and Implementation Study on Integration with ERP and Refinery Information System mainly would be focused on analysis and design consideration to adopt the characteristics of process industry in implementing the traditional ERP system such as SAP R/3. Over the past several years many larger, global chemical have begun implementing ERP systems from the top down in their organizations. They have begun with areas of functionality such as the financial and treasury areas that do not require software specific for the process indu stries. The implementations in these non^-industry specific areas have been successful and these companies want to continue their implementations down through other layers of their organizations with the goal of reaching the factory floor. The closer on gets to the manufacturing environment the more industry specific functionality is required. These companies are implementing operations^-centric software in their manufacturing sites that meets these process requirements and integrating these applications to their enterprise corporate systems. There are distinct advantages to this co^-existence strategy that far outweigh the dual^-system support requirements placed on the information system structure in refinery and petrochemical industry. In some respects, the chemical industry processes are the opposite of a discrete manufacturer assembly business. Chemicals are of the recomposed for many chemical process and the result is multiple outputs. Discrete manufacturing accumulates parts into assemblies and assemblies into a single part in what resembles an shaped structure. Chemical manufacturing requires a divergent process model that supports multiple outputs at any stage of the process to support by^-products, co^-products, recycles, and waste streams. Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) to those that included more business processes known as Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) systems. These systems evolved into Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems which suggests that all information systems required for the management of a manufacturing enterprise are part of the solution. These core areas feed the remaining portions of the ERP application : planning, scheduling, product costing, yield accounting and performance analysis. All of these areas work in harmony to satisfy the unique requirements of the process industries. In this study, the main topics for integration with ERP and IRIS(Integrated Refinery Information System) which supports all business and process in oil refinery and petrochemical plant are the essential and critical part of implementation during ERP project. This thesis was described in view point of process modeling for the integration with several legacy applications and SAP R/3, especially including interface technology implemented during L^-companys ERP project and the blue point for integration with BW(Business Warehouse), KM(Knowledge Management), CRM(Customer Relationship Management) and APO(Advanced Planning & Optimizer) for future step .
