5×10^(-7) sec^(-1) ...

Sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) behavior of various steels was studied to develop a line-pipe steel with high resistance to SSCC. The specimens were basically X-65 line-pipe steels with small addition of (Cu-Ni), Mo, Ti, respectively. The average grain size of the specimens was 4~7㎛ with texture and precipitates which were homogeneously distributed in the matrix with the average size of 27~57nm. The hardness of specimen #B(Mo add) was higher than that of specimens #A(Cu-Ni added) and #C(Ti added), which were 211.5, 189.9 and 186.3Hv, respectively. Specimen #A(Cu-Ni added) and specimen #B(Mo added) showed higher corrosion resistance than specimen #C(Ti added), whose corrosion rates and potentials were 2.5×10^(-4), 6.9×10^(-4), 2.2×10^(-3) A/cm² and -511.8, -517.9, -544.7 mVSHB, respectively. The corrosion resistance decreased with Cl^(-) and H^(+) contents which more significantly depend on H^(+). Specimen #C(Ti added) showed higher SSCC resistance than any other specimens such as #A(Cu-Ni added) and #B(Mo added) at the strain rate of 5×10^(-7) sec^(-1), which supported that the SSCC mechanism involves hydrogen induced cracking. The SSCC products on the fracture surface were the mixture of iron oxide and iron sulfide.
