The purpose of this research was to create water space such as marshes and watercourses along with the aqua-ecosystem that have been filled up or destroyed as rapid industrialization and urbanization in cities are in process, especially focusing on obtaining methods to provide eco-pond. This inquiry was done by comparing, studying and analyzing existing ponds through investigating instances, and studying documents on introduction and methods on making eco-pond, therefore suggesting improvement methods. This particular study sums up as follows. 1) Conclusion on comparing, studying and analyzing the ponds in the nation. Ponds were categorized as the either eco-pond, man-made/natural, man-made of the three, according to its application. Three places were selected for each category, totaling nine, in metropolitan area. ·Though the so called "pilot projects" led recently by the government are made similar to natural shape, plants and so on, it may be difficult to adapt them as examples for easy distribution because most were done in large scale. ·Because steep slope existed in water, It appeared that hydrophyte were not introduced despite the pond were left in natural condition in instances of man-made/natural ponds. ·Man-made ponds were normally located in parks and schools. Provision is required for places of this study which were far different from the natural ones. 2) Methods for making eco-pond Data on size & shape, depth, waterproof techniques, water supply, making swamp, plants & planting plan, maintenance of the ponds were collected for making eco-pond. ·It is noteworthy that different environment and depth must be provided because these are main variants contributing to attracting plants in the ponds. Various spaces can be used for shelter, place for relaxation and habitation. ·Place emerged plant, floating-leaved palnt, free-floating planktonic plant, submerged plant and etc in low water level zone, deep water level zone once these various conditions are provided. ·After arranging pond, routine maintenance is necessary for preventing eutrophication. Minimal management should be done as possible to maintain its natural status. 3) Ways to creating eco-pond and improvement methods for existing ponds. Improvement methods for existing ponds and ways to creating new eco-pond were suggested in an elementary school, based on comparing, studying and analyzing the instances and eco-pond creating theory. The genaral planning was directed so that the aim of the pond in the elementary school was for field study, observatory place and healthy inhabitant for living things, and that providing habitants for animals and plants by introducing gentle slope and different depth to serve its purpose. This research was for introducing methods to create eco-pond through studying·analyzing instances of existing ponds and theological examination, and providing improvement methods for previously made ponds, eventually giving ways to be used to making eco-pond in parks, and residences and schools in metropolitan area. It may be possible that the above mentioned research lacks thorough study on investigating existing ponds because instances were limited and it was done in short period of time. Also, methods suggested in the research were based on studying·analyzing previously made ponds, and investigating on creating eco-pond. Therefore, in the future, more diverse research should be done through its diverse size and pratical creation. Also, because we are in absolute lack of water space, it is my firm belief that more research must continuously be carried out for promoting different types of species and providing different water space.
