The first Purpose of this thesis is to understand and consider what is the meaning of puritanism and pietism. The second Purpose of my thesis is to define 'True Piety' in modern christian life. In my first chapter, I mentioned the purpose of this thesis, the method and extent of the research. In the second chapter, I wrote a definition of Puritanism and its occurrence. Puritanical pietism had intimate relations with Politics and King's policies. But at first the P-uritanical pietism was a kind of reformation in the Church. In the third chapter, Puritan took a serious view of the Bible, they believed that they are the people who had made a contract with God and 'selected people', they insisted on 'experienced predestination' and the absolute power of God. They tried to follow the order of God in their society and practiced their faith. The forth Chapter described the origin of Pietism. At that Puritans thought Society and the Church needed to be reformed. It originated from 'small groups'who wanted to reform the Church. This was a very corrupt time in Politics and Religion, almost all clergyman at this time was morally corrupted and society at this time also needed effort to recover the aftermath of war. The fifth Chapter introduced 4 theologist of Pietism. John Arndt was a forefather of Pietism. But true the father of Pietism was P. J. spener. He suggested 6 programs to reform the Church in his country. That program influenced much of the Church and Society. A. H. Franke achieved a lot, especially in his foreign Missions. N. L. Zinzendorf was a faithful christian. He also had vision in his foreign Missons. His works influenced to the Methodist movement in England. The sixth Chapter explain, the positive and negative influences of pietism. The positive influences were Development of foreign mission, publishings of the Bible, exte-nsions in social welfare, and influnce on many churchs from the Methodist mo-vement in England, to the Evangelical movement in America, and to the Morabianism. The negative influences of Pietism were that the preached abstinences were too extreme to follow and some of them were hypocritical, and ignored social problems. The seventh Chapter, I tried to find the relationship between the two pietical movements. They had many similarities. They took a serious view of the Bible and experienced faith, tried to practice their faith in society. They also wanted to reform their Church and Society. The last Chapter summarized the whole thesis. I suggested some similer ways to reform our churches as well as ways the two pietical movements, I campared, should have been changed. I think, we have to remind why Puritanism and Pietism arised at that time.
