The more our society is being highly industrialized, the bigger expectations and the longins for the social welfare exist. Under this circumstance, as the responsibility of the social welfare organization is becoming more important, the social welfare organizations are being changed. It is no exception for the Scout organization. In order to adjust to this rapid change and develop efficiently, new strategy of the organization management is necessary. The purpose of this study is to provide important basic data for the effective management and progress of the Scout organization by studying the characteristics and the organizational performance of the Scout with the following subjects. First subject is the relation between the characteristics (task structuralization, centralization of power, formalization, size of the organization) and the organizational performance of the Scout organization. Second, the characteristics of the Scout like task structuralization, centralization of power, formalization, and size of the organization are how to effect the Scout organizational performance. Third, it is surveyed if the characteristics like task structuralization, centralization of power, formalization are different by the types of the Scout organization. Fourth is to survey if there is any difference at the Scout arganization perfomance according to the Scout organization types. For these subjects, I surveyed all Scout employees and took statistics the data using SPSS V10.0. The summary of the results is as follows; First, the result of the relation between the characteristics and the organizational performance of the Scout is as follows. ① Concerning the task structuralization and the organizational performance, there was meaningful relations among task solving structuralization, total organizational performance, organization and the inferior elements (firm satisfaction, task satisfaction, adaptability). On the contrary, there was meaningful relation at firm satisfaction, task satisfaction, total organizational performance between task repetition and organizational performance and there wasn't meaningful relation with the adaptability. ② Concerning centralization of power and organizational performance, there wasn't meaningful relation between them. ③ Concerning the formalization and the organizational performance, there were meaningful relation among the formalization, total organizational performance, the organization and the inferior elements (firm satisfaction, task satisfaction, adaptability). ④ Concerning the size of the organization and the organizational performance, there wasn't meaningful relation between them. Second, in order to check the way how the characteristics of the Scout organization bive an effect to the Scout organizational performance, a multitude regression analysis was done for total organization and the inferior elements of the organizational performance. The results are as follows; ① As the result of the regression analysis abut the effect of the organizational characteristics to the firm satisfaction, five changing factors of the organizational characteristics explained 22.3% of the firm satisfaction. The formalization was the organizational characteristic biving the meaningful effect. ② As the result of the effect of the organizational characteristic to the job satisfaction, five changing factors of the organizational characteristics explained 29.2% of the job satisfaction. The formalization and task solving structuralization were the organizational characteristic giving the meaningful effect to the job satisfaction. Between them, the formalization was more effective than the task solving structuralization. ③ As the result of the effect of the organizational characteristic to the adaptability, five changing factors of the organizational characteristic explained 32.3% of the adaptability. The formalization was the organizational characteristic giving the meaningful effect to the adaptability ④ As the result of the effect of the organizational characteristic to total organizational performance, five changing factors of the organizational characteristics explained 32.3% of the organizational performance. The formalization and task solving structuralization were the organizational characteristic giving the meaningful effect to the job satisfaction. The Boy Scouts showed highter task structuralization than the Girl Scouts. ② The centralization of power didn't show any meaningful difference. ③ There was a meaningful difference at the formalization. The Boy Scouts had higher formalization than the Girl Scouts. Fourth, T-test was done to know if there is any difference at the organizational performance by the scout organization types. There were meaningful difference at total organizational perforamnce and the inferior elements. The Boy Scouts showed higher points than the Girl Scouts at the firm satisfaction, job satisfaction, adaptability and total organizational performance.
