Recently, the demand of the filament wire, the diameter of which ranges from a few micrometer to hundreds of micrometer, has increased. When a micro/nano wire is manufactured by a traditional extrusion, some difficulties might be generated because of very tiny diameter. Such difficulties may be avoided if a multifilament wire extnision is adopted. In this thesis, a combined process, multifilament bmetai wire extmsion and then drawing for the sizing, is considered to manufacture the filament wires. This combined process can significantly reduce the amount of work than the current way of manufactwing, which uses drawing processes as many as approximately one hundred twenty times. If should be alco noted ihat each fiament wire is composed of two metals, for instance outer copper ring and inner aluminum wire. As a beginning to examine the possibiiity of the combined process with a bmetal wire, the first extmsion of copper-clad aluminum wire is carefully studied using the commercial F.E.M program, ABAQUS. Here, a die angle, exbusion ratio and thickness ratio of clad materiais are chosen as important process parameters. Based on the analysis, the exbusion force did not significantly change in a die angle, however, the change of the extrusion ratio and the thickness ratio of clad materials were very noticeable. Furthermore, the damage distribution according to the change fo extrusion ratio and die angle did not change significantiy. But the change thickness ratio of clad shows distinguishable changes. With these results, the second or third exbusion process would be anaiyzed in the future.
