If catalysts were prepared to nano-sized, they included of the activity component within catalysts, so we can maximize the efficiency and can be observed of new properties which were not observed in bulk. In this study, silver supported catalysts of nano-sized have been prepared by alcohol and dioctyl ester of sodium sulphossuccinic acid, anionic surfactant(AOT) to investigate the nano-sized catalysts prorperties. The physical porperties, such as particles size and crystallinity have been investigated by TEM, XRD, BET. In addition, TPD/TPR experiment, oxygen desorption energy and ethylene partial oxidation have been studied to investigate the characteristics of silver catalysts. The sizes of Ag particles were estimated to be 10∼16 nm and the peak of silver oxide was not observed by XRD except for metallic silver. In the catalysts prepared by microemulsion method, silver contents and particle sizes were smaller than the catalysts prepared by water-alcohol method. In the results of TPD/TPR, we showed that molecular desoption oxygen on surface was applied of activity oxygen which directly contribute to ethylene oxide in the ethylene partial oxidation. And in the catalysts prepared by microemulsion method, silver-supprots interaction was stronger than the catalysts prepared by water-alcohol method. Desorption energy of molecular oxygen was estimated to be 30.63kJ/mol in the catalysts prepared by water-alcohol method, but in the catalysts prepared by microemulsion method, the desorption energy of molecular and atomic oxygens were 30 kJ/mol, 64.56 kJ/mol, respectively.
