This study was attempted to reveal the taxonomic relationships of Korean Polypodiaceae through investigating external and spore morphologies. In addition, the taxonomic circumscription between Korean population and Japanese one of Crypsinus engleri as well as Colysis simplicifrons and C. shintenensis were speculated. Morphologically, Lepisorus thunbergianus is similar to L. ussuriensis, however, they are well distinguished by rhizome diameter, stipe length and scale color. Loxogramme duclouxii and L. salicifolia are also different in blade form, apex form, stipe color. In the case of Crypsinus engleri, Korean population has narrowly elliptic leaf with broadest at middle and sharply acuminate apex, but Japanese one has linear leaf with parallel at both side and dully acuminate at apex. In Colysis simplicifrons and C. shintenensis, they are very similar except for leaf size. In terms of spore morphology, Korean Polypodiaceae has monad, monolete with bilateral symmetry, bipolar and oblete spore except for Loxogramme grammitoides having trilete spore with radial symmetry. In spore wall structure, exospore shows variable patterns enough to distinguish genera, and sometimes to distingush species in the genus. Perispore were existed in all the species examined and is most thin. The pattern of perispore is most similar to exospore in all the species examined except Polypodium virginianum, Lepisorus, Pyrrosia hastata, P. linerifolia which show different pattern of perispore. In Colysis simplicifrons and C. shintenensis, they have psilate exospore. But, the perispore of C. simplicifrons is psilate and that of C. shintenensis is areolate and irregulate verrucate. In case of Crypsinus engleri, both Korean and Japanese population have psilate exospore. However, perispore of Korean population has echinate and gemmate in perispore, but Japanese one has gemmate only in perispore.
