(A) study on 『ways in preaching approaches on situations of the audience』 : on the basis of missionary sermons in act원문보기

The importance of sermon is not too much emphasized in Christianity. It must be on the basis of God and His Bible as much as the importance. And it must be planned and carried out based on the right theology all the time. However, it's no use not to be delivered to its audience. To preach is to deliver it. To deliver it properly, the preacher has to understand and effectively approach the audience along with leaving him in the hands of Holy Spirit. Therefore, this study is to find out the necessity of the approach based on each situation of audience from many opinions of preachers, and to analyze the 4 missionary sermons in Acts to find out the proper approaches to the audience. On it base, this study suggests the 6 ways in preaching approaches on situations of audience as following. 1. Understanding of the work of the Holy Spirit 2. Understanding of the situations of the audience 3. Making up the right topic and purpose of the sermon based on the situation of the audience 4. Introducing of the sermon based on the situation of the audience 5. Developing the sermon based on the situation of the audience (1) Explanation for the audience (2) Testimony for the audience (3) Application for the audience 6. Expectation for the effect of the sermon based on the situation of the audience It's clear that a preacher has to understand and consider its audience all the way. Paul, the Apostle said "... I have become all things to all men so that by all means I might save more." in the ch. 9, ver. 22 of 1 Corinthians. The fact that he became "be Jewish as the Jewish", "act as those who do not have the law to them", and "be weak as the weak" is one of the great working of the Holy Spirit for the validity and effectiveness of the sermons. This study proves that the 4 missionary sermons in Acts are based on each situation of each audience. There's no applied rule in Peter's sermon(Acts 2:14-41; 10:34-48) and Paul's sermon(Acts 13:13; 17:16-34). There's flexibility and adaptability based on the situation of the audience. The topic, purpose, introduction and its development(explanation-testimony-application) are decided by the situations of the audience. It also shows that a preacher doesn't have to stick to only one approach to deliver the only one Gospel, the unsearchable riches of Christ and the administration of this mystery hidden in God. What's the 'Target' is the most important. To Peter, the target was the Jewish who admitted special revelation(Old Testament) on the Pentecost; while the Gentiles who were treated unclean by the Jewish in Cornelius'. To Paul, it was those who worship God in Antioch; while those who followed idolatry and philosophical debate in Athens. Thus, a preacher has to make the right target, understand their situation and approach it properly. To make it, a preacher has to reorganize the main idea for the audience considering its validity and effectiveness, as well as study the Bible, the main text.
