As an important attacking skill connected to scoring in the game of badminton, the smash mot ion of it occupies relative importance among its valious playing skills. Hence, in this study the smash motions in badminton of a skilled group and an unskilled group were classified to analyze and examine the velocity of segments in upper limbs, the velocity on impact, the angle between brachium and forearm at the impact moment, the angle between brachium and forearm at the impact moment, the angle between racket head and wrist at the impack moment, the angle velocity of segments in upper limbs, the angle acceleration of segments in upper 1imbs, and the transfer trace of each phases of the skilled group and the unskilled group and inspect the relation between kinetic valuables so that not only skill development of badminton can be achieved but also scientific explanation can be presented. For this purpose, the smash motions of 4 badminton player of H university and those of 4 students of the physical education department in K university who were not majoring in badminton were analyzed kinematically and the attained conclusion were as follows. 1. The velocity toward Y direction, the forwarding direction of segments in upper limbs of the skilled group was faster than that of unskilled group, and the velocity toward X,Z direction of unskilled group was faster than that of skilled group. 2. The velocity on impact of the skil led group was faster than that of the unskilled group and the movements toward left, upper and lower direction of the skilled group were fewer than those of the unskilled group. 3. At the impact moment , the angle between brachium and forearm and the angle between racket head and wrist were both stretched, but just after the impact mot ion fast bending mot ion of wrist occurred in the skilled group. 4. While the angle veiocity of segments in upper limbs showed the maximum at the impact moment in the skilled group, the angle velocity did the maximum at the back swing moment and decreased at the impact moment. 5. In the transfer trace, the revolutions of waist of the skilled group occurred more than those of the unkilled group, and the touching locations at the impact moment were before the vertical line above the head of the skilled group, but in case of the unskilled group the touching locations were after the vertical line above the head of the unskilled group.
