As a result of analyzing characteristics of bamboo and its contents by its distribution areas, its growth is very quick, it reaches full growth in 45 days, it becomes the mature bamboo in 3~4 years and has a potential of continuous reproduction and a value of environmental friendly material with its wastes after processing. Bamboo charcoal dyeing was used for monk's wear since old times and in these days it is also used for making precious monk's clothes by temples. It has handicraft values for making traditional clothes and Hanbok quilt and excellent functional effects. Therefore, it is considered that efforts to find out regional special products and create high-added value according to its distribution areas based on its growth conditions. This study examines dyeing nature of dyes obtained by pulverizing ashes of bamboo leaves and bamboo charcoal. It investigates the influences of dyeing temperature and frequency ondyeing of fiber by adding alum, vinegar and bean squeeze in order to know their dyeing natures for hemp cloth, ramie cloth, silk, etc. 1. Dyeing fiber without adding mordant suggested by Table 14 showed less ΔE value than that adding mordant. 2. As a result of comparing color difference ΔE values between dyeing fiber of cotton, hemp cloth, ramie cloth and silk adding alum mordant after using bean squeeze in advance and that of cotton, hemp cloth, ramie cloth and silk adding alum, the former showed ΔE values such as 15% for cotton, 17% for hemp cloth, 11% for ramie cloth and 20% silk and oxa showed 5% higher value with addition of alum. 3. As frequency of dyeing for cotton, hemp cloth, ramie cloth, silk and oxa, etc. increased compared to one dyeing shown in Table 16, ΔE value was improved. But, ΔE values were rather lower for hemp and ramie cloth with six repeated dyeing because dye particles of hemp and ramie cloth were not adhered any more after some degree of adhesion due to differences of fiber density and they were out in the process of washing. 4. As a result of experimenting five dyeing fibers according to dyeing methods with the case of repeating the process such as boiling at 95℃ for 30 min. - rubbing for 3 min. - washing and drying by 3 times and that of repeating the process such as boiling at 20℃ for 30 min - rubbing - washing - drying by 3 times, bamboo charcoal and bamboo leave materials showed higher adhesion when they were boiled at high temperature as shown in Table 18 and Table 20. In addition, it showed lower adhesion by shaking it in shaking incubator at 75℃ for 2 hours unless it was not rubbed. 5. As a result of measuring color fastness of cotton, color fastness for washing was the fourth grade and that for sunshine was the fourth grade and then it is considered that bamboo charcoal and leave have enough value as dyeing materials.
