Abstract Deck house, engine casing and funnel is well-known structure using thin-plates. deck house is the place in which the crew live and there's bedrooms, steering room and swimming pool also, so the crew can sail comfortably. Engine casing is located on the top of main engine room. funnel exhausts burning gas throughout the all sorts of pipes, and it also can be a face of a ship because there's ship marks on the funnel. like this, deck house, engine casing, funnel is located on the top of the ship and show a distinguishing characteries with bright color. For this reason, those require excellence of a function and the external appearance. To maintain excellence of the external appearance, it's necessary to minimize welding deformation occurred on thin plates. All the effort has been doing for that. First, in case of funnel and deck house, we've been using double continue fillet welding and intermittent continue fillet welding to maintain the good external appearance appropriately. Second, we install carling for protecting deformation between angles which play a column role of wall structure at working place. Third, we perform straightness work at the deformation part of welding after assembling and joining unit blocks. Here, the first one is that we have to pay attention to. When observing, there's lots of welding deformation at the double continue fillet welding part. Double continue welding is necessary for constructively. And in case constructure size is grown up, we connect plates using welding because of lack of size of plates. At this time, in case that this butt line and double continue fillet welding crosses vertically, repairing is not easy due to the repetition of deformation occurred at the part of butt welding and fillet welding. This report to study for deformation mechanism on thin plate.
