The purpose of this research is to study the junior high students how they change their consciousness about social participation through participating in NGO Research Club. This research introduces how NGO Research Club was performed as a club activity in Junior High School in Jeon-ju. The results of this research would give you (or schools or teachers) an idea about offering students a chance to have a social participation experience education which could lead them to a continuous participation in the community service and to an altruistic volunteer activity. There are two main subjects in this study. The one is to examine how the NGO Research Club and social participation experience education are conducted and the other is to find out how much students were influenced about their awareness of social participation according to their gender, religion, grades, motive of participation, types of characteristics, existence of social participation experience education, structure of small group, and the value of students. Researcher participated in students' activity and interviewed the participating students, based on these two main subjects. Also, researcher had students to take the survey and to write out their opinions to examine their change in consciousness about the social participation. As a reference, researcher had non participating students who had the same level of academic achievement and the same gender to take the survey. SPSS 12.0 statistics program was used to process all the collected data. Only the frequency and cross analysis results were taken in this research due to the small number of participating students. Through all the process, this study can be summarized as following: First, NGO Research Club activity which is connected to the local community group offered a good opportunity for students to understand the work and the importance of NGO, and to recognize the value and the significance of the altruistic volunteer activity. Second, students explored the local community groups in Jeon-ju. They had a chance to experience as future NGO activists through finding out the problems and putting the solving methods into the practice. Third, it was clear that preparation and training beforehand and reconsideration about the activity afterward were the important factors which influenced students' desire to participate in the community. Fourth, we (teachers or school) were able to provide a new volunteer program that was different from the formal one which was just for fulfilling the hour requirement. Also, the center of club activity organization was moved from teachers to students. It led students to choose the activity voluntarily. Fifth, through NGO Research Club activity, the gender, grades, existence of the social participation experience education, structure of small group influenced to students' value, characteristics, level of satisfaction, and continuous desire to participate in local community activity. Sixth, a thorough discussion between the local community groups and the teachers before and after the activity, the cooperation of the director and other teachers, and the encouragement for the students should be emphasized in the club activity administration.
