The purpose of this study was to measure mentally-disordered people's satisfaction with some rehabilitation programs typically applied at social rehabilitation center for the mentally disordered and grasp their service needs to induce them to make more spontaneous participation in order to obtain basic data for developing concrete programs to accomplish true social integration and provide individualized and effective service. For this purpose, a survey and analysis was made with 142 mentally disordered people using social rehabilitation center for the mentally disordered in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province for satisfaction with and effectiveness of the current program, satisfaction in relation to motivation, and service needs. As a result, first, the current programs at social rehabilitation center were somewhat helpful in managing drugs and symptoms and in maintaining daily life but failed to be a great help for substantial social activities, independent lives, or occupational rehabilitation. Second, there were service needs for practical life, actual independent life skills within home, occupational life, family relations, and personal relations rather than for education, lectures, or role demonstration within a facility. Third, as for motivation, spontaneous participation in a program affected satisfaction with all programs. Fourth, as for service needs in relation to mentally-disordered people's characteristics, there was no difference in the grades of mental disorder according to the pre-disorder presence of occupation. On the basis of these results, the following scheme can be presented to change programs at social rehabilitation center and develop new programs: it is necessary to reinforce programs to reflect mentally-disordered people's physical, mental, and medical service needs, programs to reflect service needs for rehabilitation, programs to reflect needs for education, social relations, and social support, programs based on the pre-disorder presence of occupation, differentiated programs by the grades of disorder, and spontaneous participation.
