Using B16 F10 melanoma cells. Basic cosmetic ingredients were tested in this study : CMI-3, creatine, D-panthenol, green tea, scutellaria extract, mulberry extract, N-acetyl-L-cystein, yeast extract, polysorbate 60, polysorbate 80, carbopol 941, xanthan gum, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, dimethicone, disodium EDTA(ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), butylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerine, caprylic, squalane, BHT, tocopheryl acetate, α-tocopherol, triethanolamine and citric acid. Arbutin, CMI-3, creatine, D-panthenol and yeast extract are the most effective active ingredients. They inhibit both of the melanin synthesis and the tyrosinase activity. Caprylic, squalane, butylene glycol, glycerine and propylene glycol inhibit the melanin synthesis but not tyrosinase activity. Experiment was also performed with different mixtures of samples, which were CMI-3 with creatine, CMI-3 with yeast extract, and all of them. The most effective mixture is CMI-3 with yeast extract. Its activity is almost same as 0.01% of arbutin in 0.05% concentration
