It is necessary for most Energy Recovery and Efficiency Management of industrial plants to adopt the air-cooled heat exchanger (ACHE) as important equipment and especially ACHEs are used since it has the economical advantage. However, many construction companies overlook total cost based on their own economical strategy and they only consider the initial investment cost rather than total estimated Life Cycle Cost (LCC). Therefore in this paper I aim to analyze economic feasibility by studying ACHE case study and lay the foundation of optimal design considering long-term value. As it is mentioned earlier, this study was set out since noticing that designing ACHE can cause long-term cost loss without considering economic analysis. Especially this study applies LCC (Life Cycle Cost) for economic analysis and I develops an analysis model and calculation program using LCC theory. LCC method can considerate most expected categories of cost during life cycle so it has emerged as an economic analysis tool in plant industry since they can apply various fields and purposes. In order to complement the accuracy of date, cases were selected from previously conducted projects. 4 Cases are designed with different bay quantities from 3Bays(6Bundles) to 6Bays(12Bundles) and required motor ratings respectively. (Case1: 3Bays/34448.5m2/55kW, Case2: 4Bays/ 36759m2/37kW, Case3: 5Bays/38649.5m2/22kW, Case4: 6Bays/42010.3m2/ 18kW)As the result, initial investment including procurement and construction cost was in order of Case4>Case3>Case2>Case1, maintenance cost including replacement and repair cost was in order of Case1>Case2>Case3>Case4. Total Life Cycle Cost that is the sum of initial investment, maintenance cost and decommissioning cost was in order of Case1> Case2> Case4> Case3. It means that choosing Case4 considering only initial investment may cause cost loss than Case2 that is optimal case in the long-term point of view. Also it is estimated that Case1 could cause more than 15% cost loss than Case2 in the discounted LCC and 22% cost loss inflation ratio based LCC. Based on this result, I suggest a calculation program which enables quantitative analysis and make a foundation of further research and have associating business apply, as well as I reach a conclusion that it is very important to conduct economic analysis considering future cash flow, especially when energy cost keeps increasing Therefore economic analysis should be conducted to optimize plant engineering.
