The concrete is used universally to structures because a fire resistance, durability, compressive strength, workability, and economic are good. However, there are defects that are brittle failure, drying shrinkage, small tensile strength, and plastic shrinkage crack which influence the durability of concrete, so fiber reinforced concrete(FRC) is used gradually to settle defects of concrete. Regretfully, fibers for FRC have been insufficient to reduce cracks until now, it could be stiffening member because fibers were not attach with cement paste. In addition, there were the decrease of fluidity caused by rolling fibers and finishability due to exposed fibers. Therefor, this study compared nylon(NY) with cellulose(CL) fibers to investigate fundamental and mechanical properties and reducing shrinkage using NY fibers. The results were summarized as following. 1) Test showed that increase of fiber contents decreased fluidity of fresh concrete and it was even worse in concrete adding cellulose fiber. It is decided that concrete containing more than proper level of fiber should be considered. The slump loss of NY fibers was smaller than CL fibers` because NY fibers were containing moisture inside, and NY-1 fibers`, that the length of fibers were short, were small. Also, the slump flow was same as the slump. In addition, concrete adding more fiber, nylon and cellulose, resulted in increase of air contents, and the air contents of NY fibers indicated slightly higher than CL fibers` because the gap between fibers and cement matrix could be charged according to increasing fiber contents. Because of these reason, unit volume weight was decreased. Bleeding capacity of concrete containing more fiber significantly declined. It is considered why fibers in matrix prevented to rise redundant water. In addition, concrete containing higher amounts of fiber effectively retarded setting time. Expecially, NY fibers definitely declined why much redundant water existed in matrix, so penetration resistance was small. 2) Plastic shrinkage crack was reduced more than plain due to increasing fiber contents and changing fiber classes. It was considered that tensile force caused by network of fibers reduced cracking when surface was shrunken by rapid drying. In addition, NY fibers that length of fibers was long was more effective to prevent the plastic shrinkage crack. 3) Compressive strength of almost specimens was increased when it was fixed according to fiber contents. Tensile strength was similar until 0.6kg/m3, and it was decreased over 0.6kg/m3. It was regarded that tensile strength of NY fibers was high. When CL fibers were mixed, tensile strength was fallen based on increasing fiber contents. Overall, flexural strength was increased according to fiber contents, and it was the highest when 0.6kg/m3 of NY fibers which was long was mixed. For the impact strength of specimens, the NY specimen showed higher than that of CEL, especially for adding 0.6kg/m3 of NY fiber because impact times were 23 from the first crack to destroy. However, on CL fibers, ductility hardly worked from the first crack to destroy. Totally, flowability, prevention of crack, strength, and impact resistance of concrete according to increasing fiber contents and NY fiber classes(NY-1, NY-2) was more effective to compare with CL fibers. Expecially, 0.6kg/m3 of NY-2 which had superior physical properties and long fiber length was the highest. Considering economical efficiency as the reasonable mixing quantity which were 0.6kg/m3 for NY fibers and 1.2kg/m3 for CL fibers, even though NY fibers of 1kg/m3 was expensive, NY fibers were more economic because the reasonable mixing quantity were little.
