This study has been performed to literature review on comparison of current status and future implications for elderly residential facilities among Korea, Japan, and the United States. In this study, more than ten facilities were chosen among the three countries, and main management system was compared about main strong merits or weak points of main impacts of the locational issues. It is found weak points that leisure or activity oriented areas are vulnerable for winter time activities particularly for assisted unit residents. Therefore, the retirement communities are supported by the state and county government within perspectives of township & urban development plan. Overall in this study, suggestions were made as follows: first, guiding and settlement programs should be made within both central and local welfare policies for manipulating pre-organized projects in rural areas, where continued comprehensive facilities are poorly established. Most prefer to remain in the community but some may face an inability to remain in their homes without some additional help and services. As the elderly population increases in a rapid pace in Korea, there is an increasing research interests in estimating the demand and developing the aged living towns as residence for elderly population. This study finds that regarding silver town preference, elderly people with physical deficiencies feel urgent to move into the silver town. The study found that there are significant differences between Korea, Japan, and the United States for the fact that in other developed two countries, there are a variety of residential choices linking community environment and nursing facilities, and more over, payment method has been too much limited to key deposits and monthly payment and residential facilities are mostly segregated from the society in Korea. Finally, it is recommended that more varied way of payment and location choice be institutionalized in the future.
