This study is aimed at suggesting the right standard to choose right Business English books and to improve the quality of the imported English books and domestic ones through the analysis of the needs of the learners on the textbooks. In this regards, the study was conducted in two research stages. In the first stage, the qualitative research was carried out through the measurement tool, which was developed from the related former study and the result of pilot study. For the quantitative study, 120 white-color workers, including business executives, were selected for the structured questionnaire, which consists of three parts; the learner characteristics, the degree of satisfaction and their needs on English for Business Purposes (EBP) and EBP materials, and the analysis of job situation. In the second stage, the analysis of the Business English books focuses on the suitability of the content situations and the language sources. By analyzing the result of the research, the major findings are summarized as follows. First, by analyzing the needs of EBP and EBP texts was very high and students generally showed a strong dissatisfaction toward the effectiveness of the books and the practical usage in real situations. The practical and useful contents which reflect the real business situations were the most wanted among the learners. Second, the analysis of job situation is conducted into three categories; the frequent business English tasks, the important ones, and the proficient ones. The most highly rated elements in the frequent business English tasks are Understanding of E-mails, Sending an E-mail, Phones, Negotiations & Bargaining, Understanding of Contract/Agreement, and Understanding of Fax. Besides, the highest five elements in Importancy were Understanding of E-mails, Sending an E-mail, Understanding of Fax, Phones, and Negotiations & Bargaining. Finally, the items found to be the most proficient Business English tasks in ranking five are Understanding of E-mails, Understanding of In-Company Document/Report, Understanding of Fax, Understanding of Meeting Minute/Report, and Understanding of Presentation Script. Third, based on the result of job analysis, the most required business situations in the EBP materials are Correspondences(E-mail, Fax), Phones, Meeting, Negotiating. On the other hand, the following elements; Public Speech, Translation, Making a Product Manual, were regarded as the least important. Additionally, the analysis on two EBP materials were administered into two phases; the content situations and the language sources. The former material reflected various business situations in regards to words and patterns. The later one showed a number of authentic sources used in real situations with activities. However, the most important situation among Korean learners, the situation of E-mails, was not included enough to use practically. Furthermore, both materials lacked the sequencing and grading the vocabulary list. Related with the limitations of this research which are considered to be complemented at the later study, first, the number of sample learners was not included every part of industry sector, but the number of the service industry overwhelmed. Second, the lack of findings from the group of professors should be complemented in the following study. Third, the analysed materials were not the skills books but the integrated books. Finally, the study findings are basic study on EBP materials, and not applied in general. The present study serves as an meaningful foundation in developing the essential Business English texts for Korean Business English leaners. Moreover, the result will be closely connected to developing curriculum and assessment tools. Based on the Korean learners' needs and wants in this research study, further research on Business English should be facilitated.
