Plastic is used for general households, electric parts, machine parts, automobile and airplane components. Most of the plastics products are being manufactured by injection molding process, which has a merit for molding complicated shape precisely. However several molding defects are appeared according to the product shape and control parameters during injection molding. Among the defects warpage affects on the product profile and causes assembling problem. In this study, warpages after molding were investigated for the specimens which are rectangular flat shape without ribs, with ribs in the flow direction, and with ribs in the perpendicular direction to the flow. Warpage according to the material, that is amorphous polymer (PC and ABS), crystalline polymer (PP and PA66), and the material which contains glass fiber. Various warpage were also examined for the process parameters such as packing pressure, packing time, injection temperature, and mold temperature. Flat shape with ribs shows higher warpage than flat shape without ribs by 6 to 9%. The specimens with ribs that are located parallel to the flow direction has higher warpage than the specimens with ribs that are located perpendicular to the flow direction by 25 to 39%. Crystalline polymers have higher warpage than amorphous polymers by 23 to 67%. Glass fiber contained polymer shows less warpage, and it is 84 to 99% of virgin polymers. For the effect of operational conditions, warpage decreases as packing time increases and warpage increases as injection temperature increases. In the comparison of experimental and computational results, two results were not always concurrence however, two results showed similar tendency for packing pressure and injection temperature for limited polymers.
