This study has the goal to perform the batting movements of the domestic university baseball players and compare and analyze the dynamic variations of the body and arm segment to examine the characteristics and suggest scientific basic data of baseball batting movements. 1. Results 1) Time Required The result of the total time required as the time variation was average 1.22±0.08 seconds and it was average 0.49±0.15 seconds in the 2nd stage to make the forefoot forward for the backswing stage as the batting preparatory posture and 0.17±0.03 seconds in the 3rd stage for batting after landing of the forefoot. 2) Position Variations The results of position changes of the center of gravity for segments from the body, upper arm, forearm and hand as major body segments moved from the Y axis which is the direction of movement in the BS stage to the opposite direction when batting and it batted a ball through the SRD stage to the BI stage by moving forward and when the body segment batted a ball, the batting position in the BI stage was 0.07m lower than the average of the ST stage in the Z axis which is the up-and-down position. It was shown that the right parts of the forearm and hand segment batted a ball in a lower position than the left part. 3) Velocity Variations The results of the velocity changes of the center of gravity for segments from the body, upper arm, forearm and hand as major body segments and those of the end of the bat showed that the horizontal and vertical velocity of the body segment was the fastest in SRD and BI and the right pars of the velocity changes of the upper arm, forearm and hand changed faster in the BI stage than the left parts. It is considered that the right parts speed up to the batting direction for bat release more than the left parts. 4) Angle Variation The right angle of the shoulder by stage was bigger than the left one and it is believed that the phenomenon resulted from taking a preparatory posture to narrow the left arm and widen the right one as a characteristic of baseball batting. It was examined that the angles of the upper arm, elbow and wrist and bat were shown bigger remarkably in the BI stage to bat a ball which is considered to be a movement to bat a ball strongly in a moment by widening the angle. It is considered that the reason why the X-factor shows the biggest angle in the SRD stage to take the left foot forward differently from the angle changes of other segments is a strategic movement to create the biggest power before impact. 2. Suggestions Because baseball batting is exercise for the whole body which has complicate anatomic characteristics, it was analyzed based on the arm segment. However, in the batting movement, the power which is generated from the ground should be recognized for powerful swing and the dynamic analysis should be studied for the efficient analysis of movements of each segment's contributions in batting movements which are not solved in this study. Moreover, in order to apply baseball batting movement to the field, these dynamic analysis characteristics should be examined and various approaches should be made and accordingly, a baseball batting movement model should be defined.
