The research questions were set up as follows:
First, as there any differences perceived marital conflict, ego-resilience, and peer relationship by student grade or student gender(male/female)? Second, are there any influences from perceived marital conflict and ego-resilience on peer relationship of middle school students?
For this study, data from 358 middle school students(164 boys and 194 girls) in Pusan were selected using 「Children's Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale」,「Resilience Scale for Korea Adolescents」,「Network of Relationships Inventory」. The data were analyzed by Pearson's Correlation, Two-way ANOVA, t-test, MANOVA, Hierarchical Regression Analysis.
The results of this study are as follows: First, there were significant differences on affect according to student gender. The girls are more positive on peer relationship than boys do. Second, second-year class girls have lower level of peer relationship and ego-resilience than first and third-year class girls. Boys' peer relationship and ego resilience are similar level among their grades. Third, in case of boys, coping efficacy, coping efficacy and triangle affect negative effects on peer relationship. However, ego-resilience affects to be less negative effect in marital conflicts. Fourth, in case of boys, external protective factor is important point in peer relationship. But to girls, not only external protective factor but also inner character is important point.
