Soil heavy metal content (Pb, Cu, As, Cd and Cr) were measured at nine shooting ranges in Korea. The results were as follows;
1. Content of Pb in soil of total field for shooting is 477.5± 438.9 ㎎/㎏ which is higher 2.39 times than anxiety standard (200 ㎎/㎏) of Soil Environment Conservation Act, and Cu is 420.8± 294.9 ㎎/㎏ which is also higher 2.8 times than anxiety standard (150 ㎎/㎏).
2. Five fields for shooting of all 9 were not maintained, and four fields for shooting were maintained with reused soil of bald site. Content of Pb of maintained field for shooting is 671.2±568.5 ㎎/㎏, which is higher than 333.5±221.8 ㎎/㎏ of no maintained one significantly (p<0.01), samples exceeded 74% in place not maintained soil pollution anxiety standard and exceeded 97% in maintained place. On the contrary, content of Cu is 477.1±292.9 ㎎/㎏ in no maintained place which is significantly higher than 345.2±282.7㎎/㎏ of maintained place(p<0.01). Excess percentage of soil pollution anxiety standard are 78% in no maintained place and 74% in maintained place.
3. Content of heavy metals of each 9 fields for shooting are significantly different (each, p<0.001), but content of each shooting position are not significantly different.
4. Average content of Pb in no maintained field for shooting is 442.4±139.0 ㎎/㎏ in bald site, which is higher 25 times than 17.6±16.0 ㎎/㎏ in reference site, and content of Cu is 634.9±129.6 ㎎/㎏ in bald site, which is higher 33 times than 19.3±23.1 ㎎/㎏ in reference site (each, p<0.001). Content of Cd and Cr are each 0.077±0.044 ㎎/㎏, 0.176±0.329 ㎎/㎏, which is significantly higher than each 0.042±0.026 ㎎/㎏, 0.062±0.150 ㎎/㎏, but one of As is similar.
5. Content by annual number of persons is that only Pb is significantly higher in proportion to number of persons.
6. All content of heavy metals per reference site and direction of no maintained field for shooting are not significant difference.
7. Content of Pb of reference site and bald site in maintained field for shooting are that reference site is 1,432.8±567.7 ㎎/㎏, which is significantly higher than 381.0±136.9 ㎎/㎏ of bald site (p<0.001). On the contrary, content of Cu is that one of impact area is 470.6±229.1 ㎎/㎏, which is significantly higher than 16.2± 29.5 ㎎/㎏ of reference site (p<0.001).
As a result, it is shown that soil of field for military unit personal shooting can be seriously contaminated by Pb and Cu, the rest are polluted by Cd and Cr partly, but no As. When bald site of field for shooting is maintained, the soil polluted by Pb is reused, and then it is shown that non-bald site is polluted by Pb seriously too, so when cleaning soil of field for shooting, it is judged to consider a special countermeasure against Pb.
