A chemical reactor model (CRM) was developed for the jet stirred reactor (JSR) with the purpose of predicting the exhaust emission such as NOx. The CRM is guided by the information gained from the CFD analysis. In this study, basically two-PSR model was chosen as the chemical reactor model for the JSR. The predictions of NO formation in methane-air lean premixed combustion in JSR were carried out by using CHEMKIN code with GRI 3.0 methane-air combustion mechanism which include the four NO formation mechanisms (Zeldovich, N2O, prompt, and NNH mechanism). The calculated results are compared with Rutar's experimental data for the validation of the model. The effects of major important parameters on NO formation and the contributions of four NO pathways were investigated. In flame region the major pathway is the prompt mechanism and in the post flame region the major pathway is the Zelodovich mechanism. In lean premixed condition (φ=0.6) the N2O mechanism is important pathway in both regions. Development of prediction methods for NOx emission is very important for the modern combustion system design. This study shows the development and application of chemical reactor network(CRN) for the methane-air lean-premixed combustion. The CRN development is based on results from CFD analysis for a test gas turbine combustor. The predictions of NOx in methane-air lean premixed combustion are carried out by using CHEMKIN code with GRI 3.0 methane-air combustion mechanism. The calculated results are compared with experimental data for a validation of the CRN. The effect of various loads and atmosphere temperature on NOx emissions are investigated.
