The purpose of this study is to develop methods of teaching English effectively through William Wordsworth`s poem. Despite the fear that poetry might be unsuitable for English classroom, it`s obvious that poetry, in particular William Wordsworth`s poetry, has some factors that have influence on students academically and affectively. However, it’s not easy for us to apply it to the Korean educational system just in the way it used to be. For that reason, it is necessary to develop up-to-date methods of teaching with the assistance of Internet in order for students to get involved in English classroom. In chapter two, this study deals with the theoretical background of the correlation between language teaching and literature. I suggest that foreign language acquisition be accompanied with its culture and that literature should be able to play a major role as a part of culture. In chapter three, I invent several tasks associated with the poet as well as his work in class such as movie clips, jumbled lines, etc. They are created mainly to rely on four skills, that is, reading, listening, speaking and writing. I carry out a survey on the benefit of poetry in a high school based on a lesson plan made up with the tasks, and analyze the result. In conclusion, it is revealed that English poetry, lyric poetry in particular, can be an extremely useful material for English class in high school because it attracts the attention of students, gets them involved in class, and is enjoyable. It means that the poetry of William Wordsworth can be a useful English material available for them by harnessing the Internet. In addition, since it is an authentic material, it is helpful for students to learn English.
