This study was conducted as to find out what impact group arts therapy has on the improvement of resilience of children tumor patients. The subjects of this study were four school children whose parents agreed to participate in this study with the reference of teachers, and those students attended hospital schools. They were one second grade boy student, one girl, one boy in fourth grade, and one girl in fifth grade. All those students has been diagnosed as a children tumor for over three months and taken anticancer treatments after intensive care. Their score of resilience was less than 70 points under a method of resilience measurements (Kim, Dong Hee, 2002). Total 20 times of session, One observation and one mediation per week was done, and the duration of each mediation per session was 60 minutes. This research started as an AB Design for single subject study, and led to a baseline, intervention of group arts therapy, and 20 minutes free playing time during maintenance. In the middle of these processes, positive self-understanding, self-reliance, resourcefulness, and frequency of intimacy behavior were cautiously observed and recorded in the resilience observation sheet. The results of this study is the following: First, group arts therapy is effective for increasing positive self-understanding behavior among resilience factors of children tumor patients. Second, group arts therapy is effective for increasing self-reliance behavior among resilience factors of children tumor patients. Third, group arts therapy is effective for increasing resourcefulness behavior among resilience factors of children tumor patients. Fourth, group arts therapy is effective for increasing intimacy behavior among resilience factors of children tumor patients. As the above, group arts therapy makes children tumor patients express their own selves and get confidence through achievement experience while finishing their own works. In addition, children could have compassion, mutual support, and understandings with each other. With these experiences, they could experience cooperation to solve confronting problems by employing human and environmental resources. Because of these, it may be estimated for group arts therapy to have positive impact on resilience improvement. In sum, group arts therapy may be employed as an effective intervention to make children tumor patients overcome the disease and difficult situations.
