Even though there are a number of what so called Christians, I am afraid that not many of them are really converted. I truly believe that if one single person is truly converted, he or she can affect the world around him or her profoundly. So, In this thesis, I firstly tried to access academically what kinds of fruits real converts can bear in their Christian lives. And secondly, I tried to access how far a person's conversion can influence other people's life. I selected Augustinus, one of the greats in Christian history, as my research object. In doing that, I throughly studied Augustinus' major publication, "Conversion". Augustinus is not only known as one of the great Church Fathers who inherited Apostle Paul's teaching but also one of the greatest theologians in Christianity. His theology affected Martin Luther. It is not an exaggeration at all to say that Christianity of present age is still under the influence of his theology and philosophy. In Chapter One, I mentioned the cause, purpose, method and the area of this research along with history of research on Augustinus. In Chapter Two, I summarized Augustinus' life in to two parts; Before-the-conversion part and After-the-conversion part. In Chapter Three, I compared the conversion of Augustinus with conversions of other Christian leaders. In doing that, I first explained the Old and New Testament's concept of conversion, Augustinus' conversion from old way of sinful life to God happened when he read Paul's Epistles. I found that Paul's conversion and Augustinus' conversion are related. Subsequently, Augustinus' conversion affected medieval Revolutionists, and as a result, present Christianity too. In his great work, "Confess", Augustinus asserted mainly that conversion took place when the infinite God enters finite man. So, he insisted that the converted who changed his direction of life to God began to experience infinite God. To Augustinus, conversion meant the recovery of God-created-beautiful-soul which was once lost. It means the converted begins to remember that he was originally created as beautiful being. So, I came to know that, in "Confess", the author mainly dealt the topic of conversion and recovery of the lost memory as a result. I also compared the conversion of Augustinus with those of other leading medieval Revolutionists, In doing that, I originally tried to see how Augustinus' conversion affected the lives of Revolutionists. But because of the lack of the space, I mainly focused on how the Augustinus influenced John Wesley's doctrine of Grace. In Chapter four, titled "the result of Augustinus' conversion", I tried to access how Augustine's thinking pattern changed after his conversion experience. After the conversion, not only his selection of language but also his way of understanding changed. As a result, he come to establish "the doctrine of Grace" in a new way. In my researching about his selection of that terminology, I mainly focused on Augustinus' fresh doctrine of love. In doing that I compared the 'Caritas' with "Cupiditas". I also mentioned about Augustinus' understanding about Trinity. When I wrote about Augustinus' doctrine of Grace, I did it by comparing his polemics toward three heresies; Manichaeism, Donatism and Pelagianism. At the final Chapter about Frontiers of new generation, I explained the Augustinus' influence on the Christian theology and ideology. While processing this thesis, I was marveled at the fact that one's real conversion like Augustinus' could result in leading so many people to return to God. I believe, as it did past, Augustinus' conversion would affect many people in future also. Even though I am fully aware that my work is insufficient and incomplete. I hope this thesis will somehow do positive role in rekindling the light of conversion movement in Korean Church.
