Ferruccio Benvenuto Busoni is a musician, educator and conductor who actively played between the mid nineteenth to twentieth century. Although his origin of birth was Italy, he was educated and raised in Germany and acted as a German musician as he identified his nationality with Germany. For these backgrounds in birth and growth, there can be always found ambivalence in his music and he created the music added with the Italian bel canto melodies running beautifully through the complicated contrapuntal structure of German music by fairly reflecting the characteristics of both countries. Although Busoni was actively playing in the late romanticism period, his works or performances was eager to escape from the monopoly of the romanticism, which led to his neoclassical music. Busoni was also profoundly interested in musical aesthetics and fascinated with the metaphysical philosophies of Hegel, Kant and Fichte. He often spent the whole night reading their books. These ideologies and philosophies were widely instilled in his music. Among the musicians who have influenced on him, Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart profoundly affected his music and he left many arranged pieces of other musicians. Among them, there are left many Bach's arranged pieces by him, which Busoni has regarded as his lifetime task. This study aims to investigate many attempts and their effects by Busoni using piano-specific playing techniques in arranging Bach's chaconne from the fifth movement of Unaccompanied Violin Partita NO.2」and to find the meanings of his works by examining the music of Busoni who was also a contemporary thinker.
