This study is conducted to quantify the difference of movements according to the impact position for a forehand drive of table tennis by means of 3D image analysis. To this end, it selected four table tennis players, and the subjects stood at the designated position in the test and were given a ball by a ball giver to do a stroke like a real match until they succeeded ten times to the target position. Among 10 successes that they made by doing a forehand drive on the table and out of the table diagonally, one-time suitable the purpose of this study was selected. The study analyzed the motion of upper extremity through the LED tuning system and Kwon 3D XP by using three JVC GR-HD 1 KR video cameras as well as the time required by sections, speed of each joint, angle, and angular speed in order to suggest the data for safe and higher scores. In addition, the study verified through paired t-test by using SPSS 14.0 and selected the statistical significant level as a=.05, and the following findings were obtained. 1. Although the percentile analysis tells that swing A consumes longer time in SB stage, it was found that it requires less time in BI and IF stages. In the back swing and impact ratio in each stage, the proportion of swing A appeared to be greater and as well it appeared to be greater in the ratio of time required for impact and follow through in each stage. 2. For body angle, swing B appeared to be greater. It is necessary to make greater body angle to receive the high balls outside of the table. 3. In the comparison of X-factor angle, swing A was slightly greater with a back swing angle of 1.94° and it appeared to be smaller at impact with an angle of 3.24°. Since swing B is to send the high balls relatively more far away, it requires a back swing motion that can deliver greater energy. 4. In the comparison of twist shoulder angle, it was observed that swing A and swing B have the greatest deviation in back swing motion. 5. As for the velocity of elbow and racket for position changes at forehand drive, swing A was slightly greater than swing B. 6. The average of shoulder angular velocity of swing A and swing B was measured greatest in BI stage, and especially the increase of shoulder angular velocity of swing A was greater in IF stage. The changes in shoulder angular velocity show that swing A requires longer impact time. 7. For the average wrist angular velocity, swing A in IF stage appeared to be greatest, and also it was observed that swing B is greater in SB stage. It is important that the difference from BS to IM became larger to send the ball far away. 8. As for the change of X-factor angular velocity, swing A was measured to be greater in IF stage while it was greater in SB stage in the case of swing B.
