This study was conducted to investigate plant resources that are able to substitute the antibiotics used in animal husbandry and that are beneficial to prevent animal diseases caused by pathogenic virus and bacteria. Among these resources, Allium tuberosum (leek) and Kaempferia pandurata Roxb (Kaempfer) were selected as materials containing excellent physiological activities and their effects on white mini broiler, weaned piglet and fattening pig were investigated at first time. In experiment 1, methanol fraction and squeezed juice of Allium tuberosum represented antibacterial activity against to all of tested respiratory pathogenic bacteria, Clostridium perfringens Type E, Escherichia coli, Burkholderia sp., Pantoea agglomerans, Haemopillus parasuis and Haemopillus somnus. In Thailand tropical plants, methanol fraction of Poncirus trifoliata fruit showed strong antibacterial activity against all of pathogenic bacteria. In Citrus aurantifolia swingle (fruit), a species in Lime, very strong antibacterial activities against all of tested pathogenic bacteria except Clostridium perfringens Type E were detected with methanol and butanol fractions. In the results of MIC (Minimum inhibition concentration) test with Allium tuberosum and tropical Thailand plants, 142 ㎍/㎖ of MIC was found at the methanol fraction of Allium tuberosum against Clostridium perfringens Type E. The MIC of the methanol fraction of Poncirus trifoliata fruit against Burkholderia sp. and Haemopillus somnus was 131 ㎍/㎖ and it was the lowest among others. The highest antioxidant activity was found in squeezed Allium tuberosum (0.97 mg/㎖ EC50). In tested Thailand plants, the methanol fraction of Areca catechu L. showed 1.06 mg/㎖ of antioxidant activity and it was the lowest concentration that can scavenge 50% of radicals among other plants. The contents of total polyphenol and flavonoid in squeezed Allium tuberosum was 17.8 ㎍/㎖ and 8.9 ㎍/㎖, respectively. The total polyphenol content in methanol fraction of Zinger officinale was 48.4 ㎍/㎖ and it was the highest concentration. The highest concentration of flavonoid was found at methanol fraction of Sesbania grandiflora L. and the content was 22.5 ㎍/㎖. The antiviral activity against high virulence avian influenza (AI) virus H5N1 was detected at chloroform fraction of Allium tuberosum and butanol fraction of Kaempferia pandurat Roxb. The aqueous and ethylacetate fraction of Citrus aurantifolia swingle (leaves, fruit) and aqueous fraction of Curcuma domestica Velton, Solanum melongena L. (Makhuapro), Solanum melongena L. (Makkhuyao) and Kaemferia pandurata Roxb showed the antiviral activity against low virulence AI H1N1. We purified the substances from the compound fraction that showed antiviral activity against N5N1 and it was determined that these substances were flavonoid faction from leek and sesqterpene faction from Kaempferia pandurat Roxb. Immunological activities of various solvent fractions from tropical Thailand plants were investigated for the secretion of TNF-α and its concentration in cytosol. However, there were no significant differences. In experiment 2, the dietary effects of Allium tuberosum and Kaempferia pandurat Roxb were performed on white mini broiler for 4 weeks. Final body weight and weight gain in the treatment of Allium tuberosum powder (0.3%, 0.5%) and Kaempferia pandurat Roxb powder (0.3%, 0.5%) were lower than those of the antibiotics treated group but these were significantly higher than those of the treatment without antibiotics (P<0.05). The relative abdominal fat contents per 100 g of body weight in Allium tuberosum (0.3%, 0.5%) and Kaempferia pandurat Roxb (0.3% 0.5%) treatments were significantly decreased comparing to those of the groups treated with or without antibiotics(P<0.05). The content of MDA, an end product from lipid oxidation in muscle, was significantly decreased in the groups treated by Allium tuberosum and Kaempferia pandurat Roxb compared to the control group at 14 days of storage (P<0.05). The colony counts of lactic acid bacteria in the treatments of Allium tuberosum (0.3%, 0.5%) and Kaempferia pandurat Roxb (0.3%, 0.5%) were significantly increased than those in the groups treated with or without antibiotics (P<0.05). The levels of free cholesterol and triacylglycerol in blood were significantly decreased in the treatments of Allium tuberosum (0.3%, 0.5%) and Kaempferia pandurat Roxb (0.3%, 0.5%) (P<0.05). Free cholesterol and triacylglycerol were also decreased along the increased levels of Allium tuberosum and Kaempferia pandurat Roxb powder in feed. In experiment 3, the dietary feeding of Allium tuberosum powder on weaned piglets was performed for 4 weeks. 1.0% addition of Allium tuberosum in feed did not show any negative effects on growth performance, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, and blood parameters of piglet. The positive effect of Allium tuberosum addition was found at the decrement of harmful bacteria. Moreover, feeding with Allium tuberosum powder seems to increase feed intake and feed conversion ratio slightly than the commercially available antibiotics. It was suggested that Allium tuberosum powder could be used in weaned piglets as an alternative antibiotics. In experiment 4, the feeding trial of Allium tuberosum powder on fattening pig was performed for 5 weeks. Total bacterial counts were mostly decreased in Allium tuberosum powder 1.5% fed group at fattening pig. In Allium tuberosum powder 1.5% fed group, the count of Lactobacillus was mostly increased whereas the counts of E. coli and Citrobacter were mostly decreased. In the analysis of blood parameters, total cholesterol content in Allium tuberosum 1.5% fed group was significantly decreased. In meat grade, about 50% showed “A” grade in Allium tuberosum powder 1.5% fed group compared to control group fed antibiotics (30%). “B” grade was similar between two groups (antibiotics fed group, 30% and Allium tuberos
