The number of public libraries adopting E-Libraries with RFID - in purpose to efficiently use the space of a public library, to reduce of librarians' simple works, and to provide convenience to users - is increasing. In addition, models of the intelligent library, called the U-Library, have been researched actively. However, there are still a lot of problems that information systems occupy some space, and if a user is reading a book in the mixed space like carrels and shelves without the borrow processing, other users would get wrong information about the location of the book. To solve the problems, S-LSM(Smart Library Service Model) is designed and proposed in this thesis. The proposed model makes it possible that the book information can be searched anytime and anywhere by using the smart phone equipped with the RFID reader. The steps for searching a book are as follow. First of all, a user searches the book information. Secondly, the user adds his/her searched book information in the list box. At last, the user goes to the bookshelf by GPS of the smart phone. On the other hand, the book status information is also provided. The book status informations are like 'On the shelf', 'Borrowed', or 'Out of the shelf'. Also, by using the proposed model, librarians do not have to check bookshelves often because the system provides the matching data all the times between books and bookshelves. And the proposed model let people read books any place in the library because the system recognizes the changing of the book status when the book is moved out from a shelf. In the future, the continuous and constant research will be necessary for the improved next-generation intelligent U-Library, which makes plans to use them actively, and apply them immediately to updated smart phones, developed terminal devices, and applications.
