This research is designed to analyze the public relations (PR) of nation brands on the Korean government agencies' web sites─Presidential Council on Nation Branding, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Seoul G20 Summit, Presidential Committee on Green Growth, Korea International Cooperation Agency, Korea Foundation, Overseas Korean Foundation, Korean Culture and Information Service, The Korea International Broadcasting Foundation(Arirang TV), Korea Tourism Organization, Han Style, Korea.kr, Korea.net, Korean.net─whose policies are related to a national brand. As this point of time Korea successfully hold Seoul G20 summit, it is worthy of attention that this study focuses on nation brand which is one of strategies as soft power, because Korea lacks resources of hard power while has many negative images around the world. Particularly the reason this research concentrate on internet web sites is the usefulness of Internet compared with other advertising medium such as newspaper and TV. To judge the current situation of PR for nation brands, this study suggest five criteria─the accessibility, providing information, visual PR, foreign language service, two-way communication─to analyze web sites and then search the results in terms of construction and management. To sum up, in the result of this study, the speed of updating information related with nation brands, providing foreign language services, and increasing the run of social network sites merit praise. Nevertheless, there are some problems in the activity of PR on the web sites as follows. First, Korea doesn't have strategies of PR on nation brands on the web sites. In all of five criteria, they mark the low grades. Although these criteria are essential in PR on the Internet, most of Korean government agencies have not seemed to consider these basic matters so far. Second, they lack unity between their web sites. On the web site, there is only information about the respective policies and they are too far from each other in terms of design and visual. Third, the aspect of management is totally behind that of construction. This is especially noticeable in the criterion of two-way communication. It is because skilled personnel who can care many civil complaints and questions are not enough and fundamentally the budget for managing web sites is insufficient. To conduct an effective internet PR on nation brands, firstly, major actors should have policy interests in nation brands and internet PR and establish strategies. Second, every department in agencies which takes charge of its web site should cooperate with each other for unity, and third, suitable placement of experts and enough budget should be demanded. Finally, Korea must develop its leading and top brand and consolidate the backbone of nation brand strategies as a soft power.
