Mozart (W. A. Mozart: 1756-1791) was established classical music form from the mid 18th century to early 19th century as a leading composer. Though he lived short lives, he left numerous works. Among a lot of his works, he composed 35 violin sonatas. However, his sonatas are almost based on the piano sonata and violin accompaniment. The piano sonata with the violin accompaniment was traditionally dominated in his early period, but in the mid and late of Mozart, violin's own role became more weight.
Violin Sonata in e minor K.304 is one of his mid-period work. He gave some equality between piano and violin. This is the only minor K.304 in his Violin Sonatas.
In this study, we examine the general characteristics of Mozart's violin sonata and look into characteristics that appear in Mozart's works through the analysis of K.304 work. Also, interpretation has been examined through albums comparing among three famous violinists; Aruthur Grumiaux, Anne-Sophie Mutter, and Itzhak Perlman.
As a result, Mutter's playing saved minor's atmosphere and lyrical feeling, but it seems to be very personal, such as changing the tempo. Perlman showed vivid and stunning performance using the fastest tempo among them. Grumiaux put into a clean and delicate ratresentation of songs in progress. In addition, on the contrary to the other players who finished their fast or slow-paced at the closing part, Grumiaux made rich sound in every single note in the end.
Although playing interpretation has been examined differently by three violinists, each player of pursuing playing expression would be different. This study is hoped any help for players, who want to play Mozart, could seek the most desirable playing and to see the way of interpretation on Mozart's play.
