In this study, based on ochaejilgut performed by Iri Nongak, Korean Folk Village, the National Center For Korean Traditional Performing Arts, and Hanulim Art Company, the structures of time unit rhythms inherent in mixed meter are examined, and jangdan is analyzed according to the phrasal patterns (such as regular patterns, irregular patterns, and regular+irregular patterns) as below. First, in Iri Nongak, where the prototype of Honamwoodo nongak is well preserved, the rhythms for pangut in the 1980s consisted of two jangdan, such as ochaejilgut and jwajilgut, whereas they now have three; ochaejilgut, jwajilgut, and woojilgut. The rhythm structures are also different. In the 1980s, one phrase consisted of five measures(2332/2332/3223/333/333), and jing (gong) was supposed to be beaten five times in one phrase, by being beaten once at the beginning of each measure. However, in the present Iri Nongak, one phrase of pangut consists of six measures(2332/222233/2233/33/33/3232). Jing is supposed to be beaten at the beginning of each measure, but it is not beaten in the sixth measure. However, the thing that jing is beaten five times in one phrase is the same as it was in the 1980s. The time of the ochaejilgut rhythm in the fourth measure is six to eight (6/8), which represents the patterns of Korean traditional pungmulgut. This rhythm for uniting the motions of the performers by the way of breathing turned out to encourage the collective sprit and communal cooperation, which is the same purpose as traditional pungmulgut has. Second, samullori rhythms created based on the traditional pungmul rhythms are performed in various ways. Ochaejilgut rhythms of samullori performed by the National Center For Korean Traditional Performing Arts have a structure to connect the following measures without beating of the jing at the beginning of each measure. Such a change for beating the jing causes musical regularity by emphasizing the rhythms when performed in the recursive patterns, and such a structure has the characteristics of Korean traditional musical rhythms for producing, sustaining, straining, and releasing the sound. Third, while the precedent study based on the phrasal patterns classified the regular and irregular phrase into 'regular+irregular patterns' and 'simple+irregular patterns', this study found that as the rhythm for a march in the irregular patterns has a ritual characteristics in itself, ochaejilgut rhythms should be examined based on 'yin-yang contrast+irregular patterns' of the 'regular+irregular phrase' since they can be performed impromptu as having two distinctive patterns within the consistent frame. In the present Iri Nongak, the phrase of ochaejilgut consists of 'regular+irregular patterns' which is the same way as the National Center For Korean Traditional Performing Arts and Hanulim Art Company, which are professional samullori groups, perform ochaejilgut. It indicates that the creation of samullori with no systematical analysis on the traditional pangut rhythms has caused a uniformity of the rhythms, resulting in the loss of the characteristics. What is urgently needed to prevent such a uniformity of samullori and the traditional pangut rhythms as shown in this study is the systematic and academic analysis and the transmission of the rhythms.
