This study was performed to see how composition and location of a stand of oak trees, located in Bongjeon-ri, Seoha-myeon, Hamyang-gun, after thinning on its yearly growth. For that, thinned and unthinned sample areas were studied, and sample trees were collected. Compositions of the sample areas were used to understand competitive species in the stand and dominance value, and yearly growth of sample trees was studied to analyze the difference between thinned area and unthinned area. Multiple regression analysis was used to see how the difference of growth and environmental composition of the stand influence on them. The overall ring growth turns downward in the right, but it comes loose after thinning. Ring periodic annual growth of the unthinned area was 1.35mm/year, and 1.68mm/year was that of thinned area, which was better. The effects of thinning were 0.35mm/year in the upper class and 0.76mm/year was in the middle class, which was better. Among the main factors of the stand of oak trees influencing on thinning, thinning itself, crown width and crown ratio and effective soil depth showed a positive relation, while stand density and tree age showed a negative relation. Therefore, thinning was better for growth of the stand of oak trees, and its effect would be maximized when crown width, crown ratio, crown height, effective soil depth, stand density and tree age were considered.
