FIFS(First In First Scheduling)방식의 패킷스케줄링을 사용하기 때문에 패스간 성능차이가 발생할 경우 수신 측에서 패킷 순서 문제가 발생하게 된다.

Multipath TCP (MPTCP) has just been completed the standardization by IETF. MPTCP is designed to be backward compatible with regular TCP, and its performance is equivalent to that of a regular TCP flow on the best path for it. However, MPTCP has performance degradation similar to that of the regular TCP does, because MPTCP is extended based on the regular TCP. Especially, the performance of TCP decreases in unreliable wireless network environment. And also, if the performance of paths varies with each other, an out-of-order packet problem occurs in the receive buffer. Because MPTCP uses FIFS (First In First Scheduling) packet scheduling. In this paper, we propose the multipath TCP scheme for streaming packet transmission in wireless network, where the multipath scheme is further divided into a congestion control and a packet scheduling sub-parts, operating independently. In case of the congestion control scheme, we have used TCP Westwood and SQRT TCP, since the regular TCP congestion control is not suitable for streaming transmission. However, there are some problems in using the TCP Westwood and SQRT TCP. Note that the TCP Westwood and SQRT TCP cannot fairly use the resources and also cannot properly distribute the load to multipath, since these schemes are designed for single-path transmission. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a multipath transmission scheme that improves the performance in comparison to TCP Westwood and SQRT TCP congestion control algorithms. Moreover, in order to schedule the packet, we propose an indexing scheme that selectively schedules the packets, thereby solve the problem of FIFS scheduling. The proposed indexing scheme enables packet transmission through the multi-paths and allow in order packet arrival at the receiver buffer by calculating the packet arrival time (i.e., derived from estimated RTT(Round Trip Time) and transmission interval of the packet). Finally, the proposed scheme demonstrates that its performance is equivalent to that of a regular TCP flow on the best path for it, and is a well-suited method to solve the above mentioned problems of the existing schemes. The simulation results show that the proposed congestion control outperforms the existing TCP Westwood and SQRT TCP, and also achieves the goals of MPTCP (i.e., improved throughput, fairness, load balancing). Furthermore, the results for the proposed packet scheduling proof that our scheme solves the problems of FIFS packet scheduling and outperforms the packet scheduling technique that considers estimated bandwidth.
