Electricity takes a big portion in human being’s life, and its demand increases continuously fire occurrences. According to the fire statistics from 2008 to 2010, 24 percents of all fires were electrical fires, and the potential risk of electrical fire is higher than that of advanced countries such as USA, Japan, and Germany. Electrical fire among accidents occurred by using electricity comes out with human life and also bring property damage which causes severe and dangerous result. The main problem is that electrical fire accidents is repeated. Generally, various prevention systems have been adopted to prevent electrical fire, but deterioration of system function and wrong methods for system maintenance eventually lead to cause fires once in a while. Like these cases, fire accidents happen in the use of electricity or after fixing and reinstalling electrical installation. The principal cause of electrical fires is related to the electrical connections such as a switch and connector. This connection often causes fires due to poor contact. Most poor contacts are often caused by the lower pressure at the contact points. This study reviewed kinds of poor contact cases which mostly happened electrical fire, that is, fires in the screw terminals and the twist connections. In order to get reproduction of such cases, two types of experiment were conducted. The first one was conducted under the normal contact condition, and the other one was conducted under the poor contact condition which screw terminal of breaker, for example, does not tighten or support toque value required. In both types of experiment, compulsory vibration was adopted as variable to aggravate poor contact. Each of 4.50 A, 6.75 A, 9.00 A, 11.25 A and 13.50 A of current values is inputted. In these experiments, analyzed are relationships of a contact, current and electric pulse by ZCT, and thermal characteristics according to vibration effect. The suggested data in this research provide the useful basic resources helping to investigate fires due to poor contact, develop the detector for poor contact and ultimately electrical fire occurrences.
