Also, the military has implemented policies and practices to systematically establish people-oriented culture. Its “soft power” is in development. Moreover, the military has provided moral education to promote personnel’s identification to the military, has protected liberal democracy in a whirl of ideology, imbued the society with sound views to the country in lieu of hard times, and inspired military personnel of the new generation with military spirit. However, today moral education is confronted with new issues from environment changes. It is including rapid societal transition to knowledge-based society, appearance of the new generation and multi-cultural family all established new paradigm in values and culture. These have great influence on military's traditional value, identity and moral instructional method. And the widening gap in alertness to national security is one of main troubles that the military moral education is confronted with. Education programs need to be updated to reflect knowledge-based society. Like this, this paper recognizes that the military's moral education has great influence on the society. The purpose of this dissertation is to seek for concrete direction that facilitates adjustment for the military personnel of the coming generation. That is, this study analyzes the moral education effects of military personnel of the new generation and their value system on the army from various aspects, examines the current state and problems of military moral education, discusses solutions for the problems, and seeks for a desirable future direction for military moral education. Furthermore, this paper conducted a comparative analysis between our system and that of the United States and Germany to discuss the problems of our military moral education. The methodology of this paper is primarily theoretical approach supplemented by empirical studies. The paper is composed of a total of five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. The second chapter cover the general function and role of the military for national development. They also studied the military's growth process by analyzing military's various roles. Additionally, This chapter cover the relationship between the military and a step of national development. The third chapter analyzes the military moral education's charateristics and social change. In this chapter, major attention is focused on the definitions and concepts of moral education, and value of the new generation and change in South Korean society. The fourth chapter proposes the future direction of the military moral education in response to contemporary situation and security environment. This paper can be concluded that objectives of the military moral education should be incorporated with needs and demands of the military personnel of the new generation.
