This study was performed to investigate each eye's asymmetric contributions in 3-D perceptual formation. It is thought that visual scene is constructed mainly by a dominant eye, and non-dominant eye is providing cues for depth perception. A series of experiment was conducted to find out this inference. Sixteen right eye dominant observer were participated in experiment 1 and fifteen left eye dominant observer were participated in experiment 2. Experimental stimuli were horizontally located four spheres made using Anaglyph method. We made each sphere move in depth by shifting an image presented to one eye only. The results of Experiment 1, 2 were somewhat different. When a moving image was projected to the left eye, detection time was shortened regardless of dominant eye. Detection pattern between right and left eye dominant observer were not symmetrical, however they were not identical either. Depending on dominant eye, detection pattern were different from moving direction to crossed disparity and uncrossed disparity within Panum's fusional area. Some results confirms the previous research results, but some needs new interpretation. The research reported here suggests that the asymmetric contributions of each eye could be involved in 3-D perceptual processing.
