The paper deals with development of a solenoid actuated directional control valves with maximum operating pressure 35MPa and flow rate 100ℓ/min. The solenoid valves developed here are used a safety-related equipment in a combined power plant which automatically controls the fuel supply system.
The summarization of this study is as follows.
1. The two-position four-port solenoid actuated directional control valve and two-position three-port ON/OFF valve are developed, and used to control and supply the fuel in combined power plants. The solenoid valves are pilot-operated spool valves and main spool is connected to position sensing instrument LVDT.
2. In order to analyse of the static and dynamic characteristics of solenoid valves, the modeling and simulation are carried out by using AMESim software. The solenoid valves are consisted of two subsystems; a solenoid and a spool assembly. These two subsystems are modeled separately. The simulation model has developed which accurately predicts the spool displacement of a solenoid valve to a voltage input. Although these have been modelled using empirical and measured data, the physical structure of the solenoid valves are accurately represented. This has the advantage that model can easily be modified to take account of changes in valve design.
