This study aimed to present how to choose a good cleanser and wash the face more appropriately by comparing cleansing effects of cleansing water and double facial cleansing and its impact on the skin. To compare the effects of the two cleansing methods, the study selected a weak acid-pH of 5.8 cleansing water containing 61 natural plant components and used a cleansing cream and a foam cleanser as a method of double facial cleansing. 28 study subjects were selected and after they were asked to apply cleansing water and double facial cleansing for a week respectively, the comparative analysis of their satisfaction about the skin status after use was conducted. Among them, this study tested 12 subjects and measured cleansing effects and changes in moisture, oil, pH and red spots before and after using cleansing water and double facial cleansing. At the first stage, an experimental study measured moisture, oil, pH and red spots on the left and right sides of a bare face. At the second stage, it measured moisture, oil, pH and red spots on the left and right sides of a face evenly applied by the same amount of liquid foundation. At the last stage, it measured moisture, oil, pH and red spots on the left side of a face cleaned by cleansing water with a cotton ball and on the right side of a face cleaned firstly by a cleansing cream and secondly by double facial cleansing with a foam cleanser. As the result of a comparative analysis of the skin status and satisfaction according to use of a cleanser, cleansing water lacked detergency compared to double facial cleansing and showed somewhat serious red spots but more moisture and less irritation. Satisfaction about easy use and feelings after use was higher in cleansing water. When it comes to final satisfaction, cleansing water(M=3.64) was higher than double facial washing(M=3.50), and the cleansing method was preferred before use but after use, preference for cleansing water increased to some degree. The finding indicated cleansing water was more satisfactory and preferred as a cleanser after use, which means that moisture, irritation, red spots and feelings after use as well as cleansing effects might have an important effect on the analysis result of overall satisfaction. Although the results did not show a significant difference in the two cleaning methods, cleansing water showed rise in moisture content compared to double facial cleansing. On the other hand, change in oil, pH and red spots was not so significant when comparing a bare face before cleansing to a double-cleansed face that they might be returned to the normal condition similar to a natural face after cleansing. In conclusion, cleansers and cleansing methods should be different by individual life styles and skin types rather than rely on conventional double facial cleansing. In addition, healthy skin can be kept when skin irritation and stress are reduced through a right choice of a cleanser and a correct cleansing habit.
