This study is aimed to investigate the effect on the rehabilitation of the mental disorders by applying the Integrated Art Therapy Program. A study for rehabilitation of the mental disorders to develop a program of Intermodal Arts Model applied to schizophrenic diagnosed inpatient, then apply to the mental disorders and to verify its effectiveness. Program development is composed of Psychokinetic Imagery Process by Halprin, conducted a preliminary study for 6 schizophrenic inpatients, modified and supplemented then composed the final program. First, the program is composed of a total of 16 sessions by Initial Course, Mid Course and Post Course. Second, as to the content which is approached by the Initial Course of Self-Awareness Stage is to look at my own appearance as it is maximizing to build relationships based on physical, mental and cognitive approach, the Mid Course of Self-Understanding Stage to recognize each part of the body and accommodate my mind, and the Post Course of Self-Change Stage to find my true appearance and experience the changes with the harmony of body, mind and spirit. The study, verified the application effectiveness of developed Integrated Art Therapy Program, selected a total of 29 research targets from schizophrenic diagnosed inpatients by DSM-IV as 14 experimental group participating in the program and not participating 15 comparison group by diagnosis, gender, and pair then the program has been conducted during 16 sessions, semiweekly, for respective 60-90 minutes from July 14th, 2012 to September 9th, 2012. Effectiveness is verified by data collected through questionnaire as a quantitative method for analysis for this study. Effectiveness is verified through subjective experience analysis as a qualitative method. For measurement tools, after the reliability of each tool such as empowerment, mental health recovery and local community integration (physical, social and psychological) scale is conducted with target of randomly sampled 41 patients, they are used as measurement tools. For the rehabilitation effect after applying the program, first, empowerment was promoted by experimental group participated in the Integrated Art Therapy Program than not participated comparison group. Second, mental health recovery improved by experimental group participated in the Integrated Art Therapy Program than not participated comparison group. Third, experimental group participated in the Integrated Art Therapy Program and not participated comparison group showed no significant differences in physical, social, psychological integration as community integration indexes. Suggestions in view of the result of this research, first, since personal changes as well as environmental adaptations are needed to integrate mental disorders into local community, programs differentiated by characteristics and diseases of targets should be applied. Therefore, appropriately various programs should be developed. Second, a variety of programs in which Intermodal Arts Therapy Program is applied should be expanded and approached into individual, family and local community, and should be applied in a hospital and local community rehabilitation center as a part of psychological rehabilitation. Third, repeated measure research is conducted by varying targets and environment with program applying Intermodal Arts Model and it is generalized. After that, it is necessary to reflect the therapy education program of integrative paradigm. Fourth, since a similar experimental research is conducted with only 29 patients among hospitalized patients diagnosed of Schizophrenia in one national hospital, there is limitation to apply it to every target. Because this study is approached with focus on behavior utilizing Intermodal Arts Model (focused on psychokinetic image process), there is a limitation as Integrated Arts Therapy Technique.
