Due to interruption of footpaths and urban space caused by the development of a large building such as apartment complex, 'the concept of public pedestrian road' was introduced as the plan to overcome the disconnection.
Public pedestrian road means that a pedestrian pathway is always open to be used to the general public as well as residents as public pedestrian space on privately owned land area such as a large apartment complex. Since public pedestrian road as the District Unit Plan was introduced, over 10 years have passed.
The purpose of this study is to figure out the problem of public Pedestrian Road which is installed on the private land and to suggest the improvement measurements to solve the problem.
Case for the study is the public walking path of a multi-unit residential complex being used in Ulsan. In this study, the method of study is a drawing analysis, field observation studis of public walking path of multi-unit residential complex and a user satisfaction survey.
Through this process, the results are obtained by the following.
First, as the result which synthetically analized the status observation studies on the pedestrian road and the user survey, 'connection' is usually good. The status observation studies on the pedestrian road shows that the connection with neighboring pedestrian streets and public facilities like bus stop, community facility, park, school turned out good. In the user survey,'connection' is very satisfied.
Second, as the result from analysis about the status observation studies on the pedestrian road and the user survey, 'physical pedestrian environment' turned out usally good. The status observation studies about 'physical pedestrian environment' like convenience, safety and amenity shows that 'physical pedestrian environment' is usually good. The user survey turned out that user satisfaction about convenience, safety and amenity was very high.
Third, as the result from analysis about the status observation studies on the pedestrian road and the user survey, 'recognition' of public pedestrian road shows that there is the problem to solve.
