PM10(Particulate Matter less than 10㎛ as an aerodynamic diameter), 50 ㎍/㎥, 2011년도에 ...

While fine particles (0.1~1 ㎛) emitted from industrial facilities are floating in the air for a long time, they reduce visibility or occur second pollutants after reacting harmful gas-component substances. To bodies, they cause respiratory diseases by sticking to pulmonary alveoli after penetrating deep into the lungs through breathing. Strengthening of environmental laws against the fine dust is realized. After the ambient air quality standard was enacted into 300 ㎍/㎥ in a daily average in 1983 based on TSP (total suspended particulate), it was strengthened into 50 ㎍/㎥ of PM10 (particulate matter less than 10 ㎛ as an aerodynamic diameter) in 1993 and 25 ㎍/㎥ of PM2.5 (particulate matter less than 2.5 ㎛ as an aerodynamic diameter) (the enforcement ordinance of basic environmental policy, star mark) in 2011. A discharge permission standard as means that this ambient air quality standard can be achieved has been strengthened. But, though dust emitted from industrial boilers or production process is eliminated using dust facilities such as electrostatic pricipitator, filter dust collectors, scrubbers, and so on, fine dust of 0.1~1 ㎛ grain sizes is emitted into the air due to relatively low dust collection efficiency caused from dust collection mechanism’s characteristics. Therefore, to control this fine dust effectively, academic and industrial circles have been developing high-level dust collection technologies. This study compared dry and wet electrostatic pricipitators by manufacturing them in lab scale for developing wet electrostatic precipitators. And, to solve the erosion problem of the wet electrostatic precipitators, by manufacturing PVC-material wet electrostatic precipitators; steel-material dry electrostatic precipitators, wet electrostatic precipitators, and the PVC-material wet electrostatic precipitators were compared. By measuring dust collection efficiency of each electrostatic collector in the same condition and comparing them, wet dust collectors were better in efficiency than the dry dust collectors, the PVC-material wet electrostatic precipitators were similar to general wet electrostatic precipitators in the dust collecting efficiency.
