3가지 UGR 계산 변수 [배경휘도 계산 시 field of view, 조명기구 휘도 계산 시 field of view, 위치지수(P)]의 변수 조건에 따른 UGR값을 분석하였다.

Because discomfort glare reduces work efficiency and causes discomfort to residents, it is important to control it. To quantitatively evaluate discomfort glare, the following indexes have been developed: Visual Comfort Probability (VCP), Daylight Glare Index (DGI), Predicted Glare Sensation Vote (PGSV), and UGR. Of these, UGR is an index developed by the Commission International de l'Eclairage (CIE) to quantitatively assess discomfort glare caused by artificial lighting. UGR is effected by luminous intensity distribution. As the development of LED flat panel luminaires, it has become more important. In luminaires with narrow luminous intensity distribution directly below, UGR values are low. In LED flat panel, however, luminous intensity distribution is almost lambertian distribution, making UGR values high with a high possibility of causing discomfort glare. Therefore, there has been a necessity to come up with an optical design to reduced is comfort glare in LED flat panel luminaires. In other words, UGR wolud be an important issue by development of LED flat panel. In Europe, UGR values of luminaire should be stated but UGR values calculated by commercial lighting simulation software are different. Therefore, this study has been conducted in part 1 and part 2. In part 1, UGR values of commercial lighting simulation software was compared and UGR input variables of each software was analyzed. In part 2, luminous intensity distribution to reduce UGR values was suggested. Results of part 1 and part 2 are as follows. [The result of evaluation of UGR calculations in commercial lighting simulation software] - This study analyzed UGR input variables that have an effect on UGR values before evaluation of UGR calculations in commercial lighting simulation software. Three UGR input variables [field of view for the calculation of the background luminance (Lb) and for the calculation of luminance of the luminous parts of each luminaire (L), and position index (P)] were analyzed. - Conditions of the field of view for the calculation of background luminance (Lb) and position index had little effect on UGR values. While, conditions of the field of view for the calculation of the luminance of the luminaire (L) have an effect on UGR values. - According to these results, this study compared the UGR values according to conditions of field of view for the calculation of the luminance of the luminaire (L) with the UGR values calculated by commercial software (AGI 32, Relux 2013, and Dialux 4.11). - As a result, It seems that 53 degree of the field of view was applied to Relux 2013 and Dialux 4.11. While, 60 degree of field of view was applied to AGI 32. In a space where discomfort glare is important, AGI 32 that 60 degree of field of view was applied should be efficient to evaluate UGR more strictly. [The result of a study of effects of luminous intensity distribution of LED luminaires on UGR and indoor luminous environment] - To analyze effects on UGR and indoor luminous environment by luminous intensity distribution, this study has measured UGR, illuminance and uniformity by luminous intensity distribution by using developed UGR calculation software. - Luminous intensity distribution of luminaires was classified into three types (lambertian, downlight, and batwing). - In case of lambertian luminous intensity distribution, it was compared to UGR and uniformity by spreading luminous intensity distribution gradually over 10 stages. As a results, the effects of UGR and uniformity at the 10th stage were minor with 3.5% and 5.1% respectively, compared to lambertian luminous intensity distribution. Therefore, it is required to come up with an optical design which meets the purpose of luminaires regardless of UGR and uniformity levels. - In case of downlight luminous intensity distribution, UGR and uniformity were analyzed after gradually increasing luminous intensity distribution over six stages. As a results, Even though the horizontal spread of luminous intensity distribution is advantageous in terms of uniformity, if it exceeds a certain level, it can cause discomfort glare. Therefore, this aspect should be considered at optical design. - In case of batwing luminous intensity distribution, UGR and uniformity were analyzed after gradually increasing luminous intensity distribution over six stages. As a result, it’s been confirmed that increase in the spread of luminous intensity distribution can cause discomfort glare a lot, but it can improve uniformity at the same time. In a space where uniformity is important, it is required to prevent the luminous intensity distribution from being spread broadly. In a space where there should be no discomfort glare, it would be necessary to keep luminous intensity distribution narrow. - Among lambertian, downlight and batwing luminous intensity distributions, a lambertian type is relatively higher than other types in terms of UGR with over 16. It is also relatively smaller than two other types in terms of illuminance. Therefore, it is not a good type of luminous intensity distribution. According to comparison of downlight luminous intensity distribution and batwing luminous intensity distribution, UGR was lower while illuminance was higher in the downlight type even under the same angle. On the contrary, uniformity was pretty same between two types. Therefore, it appears that the downlight luminous intensity distribution is more efficient than a batwing type in lighting up an indoor space with less glare.
