As a part of the plans to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emission of buildings, the issue on the need for the improvement of the insulation of concrete that forms outer walls of a building and the development of structural insulated concrete has come to the fore. Therefore this research has been planed and performed to suggest the optimum mixing ratio of insulated concrete by producing structural insulated concrete in batcher plant and evaluating the compression strength, thermal conductivity and thermal transmittance of concrete and to use the results of this study as fundamental data in insulated concrete work sites. For this research, the preceding researches and findings on the methods and materials to improve the insulation of concrete and the methods to evaluate the insulation of concrete were investigated, laboratory-manufactured insulated concrete experiment and batch plant-manufactured insulated concrete experiment using insulation -improving materials was conducted after experiments such as surface observation, component analysis and molecular analysis were carried out on micro-foaming agent, diatomite powder and lightweight aggregate that are insulation-improving materials by using analysis equipments such as SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope), EDX(Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy) and IR(Infrared spectroscopy). As a result, mechanical properties, thermal conductivity and thermal transmittance properties of structural insulated concrete were examined. Independent pore of the concrete for improve the insulation of concrete be increased and using the materials of the comprise independent pores or concrete to form the independent pore during concrete manufacture is required. therefore, analysis of the composition and characteristics of micro-foaming agent, diatomite powder and lightweight aggregate, the material has independent pores or the manufacture of independent pores occurs to be effective in improving the thermal performance of the material is determined were selected. The result of the laboratory-manufactured insulated concrete experiment showed micro-foaming agent 4% series mixtures, diatomite powder 10% series mixtures and lightweight aggregate mixtures resulted in positive workability, compression strength and thermal conductivity. The slump and the slump loss in the batch plant-manufactured insulated concrete experiment showed good result and it was confirmed that the workability and constructability for in-site concrete would be possible. Especially, micro-foaming 4%, diatomite powder 10% mixtures and micro-foaming 4%, diatomite powder 10%, lightweight aggregate mixtures resulted in over 24MPa of compression strength at the age of 28 days, which can be used as structural insulated concrete. Its thermal conductivity was improved by 50% compared to plain, which was the most positive improvement. Also, thermal transmittance that was 3.03W/m2K in plain, and in the mixture three using insulation -improving materials, it was measured as 2.32W/m2K, which was the most thermal transmittance improvement by 23% compared to plain. It is necessary to practical application structural insulated concrete to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission from a building, and it is expected that the study will be used as the fundamental data for the researches on practical application and field application of the structural insulated concrete. In the future, various studies must be progress that review of various insulation performance improvement materials, review of performance and durability of the structure, performance criteria, evaluation methods of insulated concrete.
