This study is on Othello's personalities concentrated on the tragic causes in Othello. The former literature reviews have mainly focused on Iago's conspiracy against Othello. However, in this study, the cause of Othello's tragedy is not Iago, the external factor, but rather Othello's deceivable personalities. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to investigate Othello's tragic personalities formed by his inner and outer circumstances. In this study, three main tragic causes are inferiority, jealousy, and self-centered honor. First, Othello has inferiority formed by ethnic bias which caused the tragedy. Othello's inferiority was caused by his skin color and ethnic prejudice. Repeated disparagement and contempt to Othello stated in the first half of the drama reveal the ethnic bias. Although Othello has a good reputable character described in the drama, he couldn't help having an inferiority complex about racial bias. Second, Othello‘s second personality trait which was a cause in the tragic end is characterized by jealousy. Othello believed in Desdemona's unchastity by Iago's conspiracy, so he was tragic end.
