At the where numerous experts in the field of culture and arts participated, the 'Seoul Agenda' was selected as the practical strategy for the 193 UNESCO member countries. With the increased leisure time resulting from the implementation of the five-day week starting from July 2011, art museums has come to consider hands-on methods importantly, which means all the family member can participate with direct feeling and experience. Recently, some children's art museums have opened in the metropolitan area from 2010, with the enforcement of the culture and arts education policy. Starting with the 'Sang Sang Tok Tok museum' in the 'Dreamforest' located in the Gangbuk-gu, Seoul since 2010, the children's art museum of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art re-opened in the name of the 'Children's Art Museum, Edu-Studio' in 2012, and in July of 2013, 'Children dream★framework' opened within the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art. These three institutions are being operated as a national, provincial and municipal in each of their respective areas in the metropolitan area. Some of children's museums dealing with folklore, history, and culture and a private art museum named 'Hello Museum' located in Seoul are existing in Korea. But the number of children's art museum is now increasing rapidly. Accordingly, this study intended to examine how each institution introduced exhibition methodologies to provide aesthetical experience to the children apart from simply displaying artworks, as an art museum focusing on 'children'. First of all, I researched the concepts of experience displays, display types and methods, and the need for experience displays after examining the characteristics of children's art museums and the trend of recent exhibitions in children's art museums in order to understand children's art museums and a theoretical consideration on experience displays. Also, I prepared a framework of analysis through preceding studies for the application of the field research of this study. Then, I summarized case-study institutions into a chart based on the analysis framework after a field research with the help of the theory examined previously and described the commonalities, differences, vulnerabilities and problems to integrate analysis result. Finally, I found the improvement methods for supplementing the vulnerabilities and problems of the three institutions. The first is utilizing various media for children to enjoy and approach the art work, and the second is to create an in-person experience object to promote enjoyable viewing using senses other than sight, which is a different method from the existing method of looking with the eyes which gives a distance between the artwork and the viewer. The third is introducing a display panel using a story-telling method to deliver information more simply and easily. This study has a meaning in researching experience exhibitions considering the characteristics of children audiences, and seeking improvement methods for better exhibitions. I expect more in-depth studies on exhibitions in children's art museums will be continued.
