In this study, a non-equivalent control group pre-post test design research was conducted to verify the effects of a pilates exercise program using self-efficacy sources on elderly women. This included effects on their physical fitness, body composition, depression, self-efficacy, and health-related quality of life.

The research tools used were senior fitness test, InBody, Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form Korea Version(GDSSF-K), Exercise Self-efficacy Scale and EQ-5D. Data analysis was conducted using the IBM SPSS 21.0 program by calculating frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, x²-test, Fisher's exact test, independent t-test, ANCOVA.
The results of this study showed that upper muscle strength, low muscle strength, upper flexibility, static balance, endurance, muscle mass, self-efficacy, health-related quality of life increased significantly, and low flexibility, the body fat had no significant differences, and dynamic body balance and agility, depression decreased significantly in the experimental group which participated in the pilates exercise program using self-efficacy sources as compared to the control group.
